Description

The Morbarne is a two-light ceiling pendant: a long oval drum shade in white fabric with a warm, creamy tone, hung on two slim black cords from a black steel bar canopy. It measures 78cm long, 22cm wide and 110cm high overall. Inside the shade sit two E27 lampholders, each taking a bulb of up to 60W, and the bulbs are not included, so the colour and warmth of the light are your choice. It carries an IP20 rating, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

We think its long, slim shape makes it a natural choice above a dining table, where a single fitting lights the middle of the table without crowding the ceiling with two separate pendants. It works just as well above a kitchen island, and in a living room it brings a softer, more relaxed glow than a bare ceiling light. Fabric diffuses light, so the shade gives an even, gentle wash across the room rather than a hard glare at eye level. The black canopy and cords keep the look neat and graphic against a pale ceiling, while the creamy white shade sits comfortably alongside wood, linen and other neutral schemes.

The body is steel in a black finish, and up close the shade shows a fine, soft fabric texture. There is no switch on the fitting itself, so it is controlled from your wall switch, and it runs on a 220-240V mains supply. As a wired-in mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download. Packed, it weighs 2.356KG. Fabric gathers dust over time, so a light pass with a soft, dry brush every so often keeps the shade looking fresh and bright.
