Description

The Knightsbridge 50 x 50mm modular reading light is a 2W LED task light designed to fit euro modular faceplate systems. The light mounts flush within a 35mm minimum back box depth and extends 372mm on a flexible metal arm from a 50 x 50mm grey faceplate. A touch-sensitive dimmer built into the head unit allows brightness adjustment from full output to low ambient without a separate control.

Designed for bedside reading positions, hotel headboards, office cubicles and commercial workstations, the modular fitting integrates with euro faceplate systems that accommodate switches, sockets and data ports in the same wall panel. The 120° beam angle from the 2W LED provides directed task light over a desk surface or book without spilling excessive light across the room. The flexible arm allows the head to be positioned 200-350mm from the wall depending on the angle needed.

The grey aluminium and polycarbonate construction gives a neutral finish that pairs with most commercial and residential interior schemes. The 3000K warm white colour temperature sits between the cooler tones of office fluorescent lighting and the warmer glow of traditional incandescent reading lamps, making it suitable for both task and ambient contexts. The integrated LED is rated at 30,000 hours L70B50, meaning it retains 70% of initial brightness after 30,000 hours of use — approximately 10 years at 8 hours per day.

What is a euro modular faceplate system?

Euro modular faceplates are standardised wall panels that accept multiple 50 x 50mm modules — switches, sockets, data ports, USB chargers and task lights like this reading light — in a single frame. The system allows multiple functions to be grouped together in one panel, common in hotels, offices and commercial fit-outs.

Is the touch dimmer separate from the on/off control?

No. The touch-sensitive control built into the head unit handles both on/off switching and dimming. Tap once to turn on, tap and hold to dim, release at the desired brightness. The specification table lists "Dimmable: No" referring to external dimmer compatibility — the internal touch dimmer is not compatible with standard wall-mounted dimmer switches.

Can the arm be repositioned once installed?

Yes. The flexible metal arm can be bent and repositioned to direct light where needed. The 372mm projection allows the head to sit 200-350mm from the wall depending on how tightly the arm is angled.

What is the light output suitable for?

At 55 lumens output with a 120° beam angle, the light is designed for close-range task lighting — reading in bed, working at a desk, or accent lighting in a commercial setting. It is not a primary room light.
