Description

Miss Jody is a table lamp with a base sculpted as a woman's head and neck: hair swept up into a soft bun, eyes closed, lips pursed, a round earring at each ear and a run of broad vertical stripes down the neck. The base is stoneware, handpainted and finished in a reactive glaze, and it carries a tapered shade on a slim stem; the lamp is made of stoneware, iron and polyester. At 24cm across and 41cm tall it is a compact lamp, and its multicoloured glaze gives a room a face and a little humour.

Stand her on a side table beside an armchair, on a bedside table, on a hall console or at the corner of a desk, where her face greets you as you pass or sit down. The cable is 150cm long, which gives some reach to a socket when the table stands a little away from the wall, and the switch is on the cord, so there is no fumbling under the shade.
