Description
A frosted white glass sphere hangs from a slim matt black suspension, giving a clean round shape and a soft, spread light rather than a hard point of glare. At 40cm across, the globe holds its own in a room without adding clutter, since there is nothing to it beyond the ball, the cord and the ceiling cup. The frosted surface keeps the lamp hidden, so the whole sphere glows evenly, and the black metalwork stays quiet against the pale glass. It takes an E27 lamp.
We reach for this width over a dining table or a kitchen island, where a generous globe answers the length of the surface below, and it is just as good in a stairwell or a tall hall where there is height to spare. The drop can be set short for a low hang above a table, or run out to around two metres in an open space. It will dim, given a compatible lamp and a matching dimmer, which helps in a room that moves between cooking and eating.
The glass is the substance of it, frosted in white and carried on painted metal in a matt black with no shine to pick up marks. Wipe the sphere with a dry cloth from time to time, power off and the lamp cool, and the frosted surface keeps its even look; nothing stronger than that is wanted. Keep it to dry indoor rooms on an ordinary household circuit. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same globe at this size in satin nickel and polished chrome, and in smaller diameters where a table or a lower ceiling asks for less presence, so a pair or a run of three can be mixed by size along a worktop. Lamps are not included.

Frequently Asked
How wide is the globe, and how far does it hang?
The glass sphere measures 400mm in diameter. Drop is adjustable from 660mm up to 2000mm, so it can sit close to the ceiling or hang well down over a table.
What lamp should I fit?
An E27 LED is the sensible choice, up to 20W. A GLS A60, a G80 globe or a T280 tubular lamp all suit the fitting, and a globe shape looks best if any shadow shows through the frosting.
Can it be dimmed?
Yes, with a dimmable lamp and a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamp nor the dimmer comes with the pendant.
What is the glass like?
It is a one piece frosted white glass ball with a matt, milky surface. It diffuses the light across the whole sphere and softens the outline of the lamp inside.
How do I clean it?
With the power off and the lamp cool, use a dry or barely damp cloth. Avoid abrasive creams and solvents, which can dull frosted glass.
Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry rooms such as dining rooms, kitchens, halls and bedrooms.
