Description

A single glass globe hangs from a slim polished chrome suspension, the mirrored clear glass catching light from the room around it as much as from the lamp inside. At 30cm across, it is a full round shape rather than a token one, and the reflective surface stops it reading as heavy in a small room. It takes one E27 lamp, and we would fit a globe-shaped LED here so the lamp repeats the curve of the shade.

Hung on its own, it suits a hallway, a landing or a bedside where a shade would look fussy; in a row, it works over a kitchen island or a long dining table. The suspension can be set short under a low ceiling or dropped further where there is height to play with. It will dim, given a dimmable lamp and a matching dimmer, which makes it easier to live with over a table where you want the light low in the evening. Anyone who likes a bit of shine without much hardware on show will get on with it.

The globe is glass, mirrored so that it reads as a chrome ball unlit and clearer once the lamp is lit, with ceiling plate and suspension finished in polished chrome to match. Switch off and let the glass cool before wiping it with a dry microfibre cloth, and keep anything abrasive away from the mirrored surface. It is a dry-room fitting, happier in a hall or kitchen than in a shower room. It carries a one year warranty. We stock this globe in a smaller and a larger size in the same chrome, and the range runs through satin nickel, copper, antique gold and black with frosted, smoked or mirrored glass. Lamps are not included.
