Description

The Mioglia is a ten light cluster pendant in chrome, with ten globe shades hanging at staggered heights beneath a round chrome ceiling plate. Each globe has a chrome upper half and a clear plastic lower half flecked with white granules, so the light comes through a sparkling, textured surface rather than from a bare lamp. The body is steel, and the whole pendant measures 200cm high overall and 58cm in diameter. Every globe holds its own integrated LED of 3.15W giving 460lm, with a warm 3000K colour temperature. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

It suits a stairwell, a double height hallway or a tall entrance hall, where the long drop and the tumbling cluster of globes fill the space that a single shade would leave empty. It also works above a dining table or in a large living room, provided the ceiling gives enough height for its 200cm overall height. We like it for anyone who wants plenty of light from one ceiling point, and because it is dimmable, the same pendant can be bright for a busy evening and lowered to a soft glow for a quiet one.

The LEDs are built in and are not replaceable, so there are no bulbs to buy or change. The pendant has no switch of its own: it is switched at the wall and runs from 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains. As a wired in ceiling light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. The steel body carries a chrome finish that matches the ceiling plate and the upper half of each globe, so the metalwork reads as one piece. Its packed weight is 11KG, so a second pair of hands is useful when the box arrives.
