Mila Etched Recycled Glass Decanter - Dark Emerald

A decanter in dark emerald glass, 28cm tall and 12cm across the base, holding a litre. The colour is deep enough to read almost black through the shoulder and thins to an olive where the wall is thinnest, at the neck and across the stopper. Cut lines run round the lower body in two tiers with a plain ring of glass between them, and because the glass is coloured they show as pale strokes rather than as a change in the reflection. The stopper is a solid ball on a short shank in the same green.

A litre is more than a bottle of wine, so a bottle decants into it with room over. It stands on a sideboard. Against a pale wall the glass reads almost black; with light coming through it the green opens up and the cut lines run pale down the body. The ball is what the stopper is held by.

The glass is recycled, and the detail round the lower body is etched, which takes the wall down where each line runs. On a colour this deep the thinned lines pass more light than the ground and read pale against it, so the band stands out sharply. The depth of the cuts varies and the lines do not all run to the same length, so the band ends unevenly. No glasses are included.

How much does it hold?

A litre.

Will the colour fade?

The colours may fade over time.

Is the glass recycled?

Yes. Waste glass is collected and washed to take out impurities, then crushed and melted down before it is hand blown or set in a mould.

How is it cleaned?

By hand only. A mild dish soap, a rinse in fresh water, then left to dry naturally. Handle it with care.

Is it made in another colour?

Yes, in clear.
