Description
The Knightsbridge FLNMIC is a plug-and-play microwave sensor accessory designed for the FLN floodlight range. The sensor detects movement using microwave radar across a 180° zone adjustable from 2m to 12m, triggering the connected floodlight when motion is detected within the set range. Hold-on time can be set between 10 seconds and 15 minutes, and an ambient light threshold from 3 to 2000 lux prevents the sensor from activating the floodlight during daylight hours.
Designed for outdoor security and convenience lighting, the sensor suits residential driveways, side passages, rear gardens, commercial car parks, and building perimeters where automatic activation is preferred over manual switching or dusk-to-dawn timers. The IP65 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water jets from any direction, making the sensor suitable for wall-mounted installation in fully exposed outdoor locations.
The sensor housing measures 64mm wide by 46mm high with a 48mm projection from the mounting surface, and is moulded from black polycarbonate. The plug-and-play connection to compatible FLN floodlights means no additional wiring beyond the floodlight's mains supply — the sensor plugs into a dedicated socket on the rear of the floodlight body. Class II construction means no earth wire is required. The microwave detection method works through glass, thin walls and non-metallic materials, giving a wider detection pattern than passive infrared sensors which require direct line-of-sight.

Frequently Asked
Which Knightsbridge floodlights is this compatible with?
The FLNMIC is designed specifically for the FLN floodlight series. It plugs into a dedicated socket on the rear of compatible FLN floodlight bodies. Check the floodlight product page or manual to confirm sensor compatibility before ordering.
How does microwave detection differ from PIR sensors?
Microwave sensors emit radio waves and detect movement by measuring reflected wave patterns. Unlike passive infrared (PIR) sensors which require direct line-of-sight, microwave detection works through glass, thin walls and non-metallic materials, giving a wider and more consistent detection zone in complex outdoor environments.
Can the detection range and sensitivity be adjusted?
Yes. Detection range is adjustable from 2m to 12m, hold-on time from 10 seconds to 15 minutes, and ambient light threshold from 3 to 2000 lux. These settings allow the sensor to be tuned to specific site conditions and user preferences.
Is the sensor suitable for coastal or exposed locations?
The IP65 rating provides protection against dust and water jets, making the sensor suitable for wall-mounted outdoor installation in most UK climates. The polycarbonate housing resists UV degradation and impact damage better than standard ABS plastic.
