Description

This little square photo frame sets a small favourite picture inside a border of mother of pearl tiles, edged all round in shiny silver-tone metal. The tiles run in a neat grid of pearly white and cream, with the odd warmer peach or blush piece catching the light, so the border shimmers softly as you walk past. It holds a 3 x 3in print in a single square opening, and the whole frame measures 10cm tall, 10cm wide and 1.5cm deep, small enough to tuck in almost anywhere.

Because it is so compact, it suits the places a bigger frame would crowd: a bedside table, a dressing table, a bookshelf, a desk or a narrow windowsill. A square print works well for a cropped phone photo, a close-up of a face or a pet, or a favourite snapshot from a day out. The cream and silver colouring sits comfortably with white, grey and natural wood, and the pearly sheen picks up lamplight beautifully in the evening. We think it makes a thoughtful new home gift, a first frame for a new place, filled with a photo of the people who helped them get there.

The frame stands on its own with a fold-out easel stand at the back, so it needs no wall, nails or hooks. The black backing is held in place by two turn clips, which swivel aside to let you open the back and slip your photo in, then turn back to hold it snug. The mother of pearl tiles are set within the metal edging, and the shiny finish needs very little looking after: dust it now and then with a soft, dry cloth, and keep sprays and harsh cleaners away from the tiles and metal. It comes gift boxed, so it is ready to wrap, and we like to give it with a print already inside.
