Description

The Mercury ST01-C is a wide-band indoor TV aerial (or antenna, as it's known in the US) built to pick up Digital Terrestrial TV signals. It covers the full UHF range from 470 to 862MHz, so it works with standard Freeview broadcasts across the band. A double reflector gives you both horizontal and vertical polarity, which helps you line the aerial up with the way your local transmitter sends its signal.

We've designed the ST01-C to be easy to put together yourself, with no tools or fiddly steps to work through. It comes with a 1.2m coaxial connecting lead ready to plug into your TV or set-top box, and the whole unit weighs just 290g so you can sit it on a shelf, windowsill or table without any fuss. Measuring 190 x 290 x 320mm, it's compact enough to tuck out of the way while still giving you room to angle it for the best reception.

For safety, the aerial is isolated to BS5373, and it runs at the standard 75 ohm impedance used across most home TV setups. With 5dB of gain, it's suited to areas with reasonable signal strength where a large external aerial isn't practical. If you're renting, setting up a second TV in a spare room, or just want a simple indoor option that doesn't need mounting on the roof, the ST01-C gives you a straightforward way to get Freeview up and running.

Frequently Asked

Will this aerial work with Freeview?

Yes. The ST01-C is compatible with Digital Terrestrial TV signals and covers the full UHF band from 470 to 862MHz, which is the range used for Freeview broadcasts in the UK.

Do I need any tools to set it up?

No. The aerial is designed for easy self assembly and comes supplied with a 1.2m coaxial connecting lead, so you can put it together and plug it in without any tools.

What does horizontal and vertical polarity mean for me?

Transmitters send signals in either horizontal or vertical polarity depending on your area. The double reflector on this aerial supports both, so you can angle it to match your local transmitter for the best reception.

Is this suitable for weak signal areas?

With 5dB of gain, the ST01-C works best in areas with reasonable signal strength. In poor reception areas an external roof aerial is usually the better choice.

What is BS5373 isolation?

BS5373 is a British Standard covering the electrical isolation of TV aerial equipment. This aerial meets that standard, which helps keep your setup safe.

Can I use it with a set-top box?

Yes. The 1.2m coaxial lead plugs into any TV or set-top box with a standard aerial input running at 75 ohm impedance.
