Description

The Mercury IP55 is a single-gang weatherproof socket enclosed in a white impact-resistant casing with a transparent PVC hinged cover. The IP55 rating provides protection against low-pressure water jets from any direction and dust ingress, making it suitable for sheltered outdoor installation where the socket is not directly exposed to driving rain or standing water.

Designed for residential gardens, garages, carports, covered patios and workshop outbuildings, the socket mounts on a standard UK back box or can be surface-mounted using the rear knockouts for cable entry. The transparent cover allows visual confirmation that the socket is occupied without opening the lid, and the hinge mechanism holds the cover open during plug insertion. The casing includes five M20 cable gland knockouts on the rear and base, with two M20 cable glands supplied in the box.

The 75 x 89 x 62mm dimensions give a compact wall profile that sits flush against brick, render or timber cladding without protruding significantly. At 154g the assembly is light enough to mount on hollow walls with appropriate fixings. The white finish matches standard UK electrical accessories and blends into painted or rendered exterior walls.
