Description

The Mercury is a single-gang 13A socket housed in an IP54-rated orange and black polycarbonate enclosure with a hinged weatherproof cover. The socket is designed for temporary outdoor power, supplying mains voltage to garden tools, pressure washers, hedge trimmers and other equipment without needing a permanently installed outdoor socket outlet.

The unit connects to mains via a 13A plug fitted with 1.25-1.5mm² 3-core cable conforming to BS EN 50525, allowing it to be plugged into an indoor socket and run through a partially-open window or door to the garden. The IP54 rating protects the socket aperture from water splashes and solid particles larger than 1mm when the cover is closed, so the unit can be left outdoors during use in light rain or when stored temporarily, though it is not rated for submersion or heavy downpours.

The orange body provides high visibility in grass, flower beds and workshop environments, reducing the risk of tripping over the unit or running it over with a lawnmower. The black socket aperture and cover are made from impact-resistant polycarbonate, and the hinged cover includes a latch that holds it closed when the socket is not in use. The compact 170 x 63 x 70mm footprint and 175g weight make the Mercury easy to relocate around a garden or between jobs.
