Description

The Mercury is a 3-gang extension lead with individual remote control of each socket, plus two USB-A and one USB-C charging port built into the end panel. Each of the three 13A mains sockets can be switched on or off independently using the included remote control, which operates at 433MHz over a range of up to 30m through walls and furniture.

Designed for controlling appliances in hard-to-reach positions or for users with limited mobility, the Mercury suits TV cabinets, home entertainment systems, desk setups and bedroom electronics where manually reaching behind furniture to switch off standby devices is impractical. The remote allows appliances to be powered down completely rather than left on standby, reducing energy waste and lowering fire risk from unattended devices.

The white plastic housing measures 290mm long by 60mm wide by 30mm deep, with a 1m mains cable terminating in a standard UK 3-pin plug. The three mains sockets are rated to 13A total load across the extension lead, with overload, overcurrent and surge protection built into the circuitry. The USB-A ports deliver up to 2.4A per port at 5V, while the USB-C port supports standard 5V charging — total combined USB output is capped at 4.5A across all three ports.

Each socket has a red LED indicator showing when it is powered, making it easy to confirm which outlets are live when using the remote. The remote control uses a CR2032 battery (included) and has separate buttons for each of the three socket groups, plus an all-on and all-off function. The Mercury conforms to BS1363/A and BS5733A standards for UK household electrical accessories.

The remote operates at 433MHz with a stated range of up to 30m. In practice, this depends on wall construction and obstacles between the remote and the extension lead — brick walls and metal furniture reduce effective range more than plasterboard partitions or wooden furniture.

Can each socket be controlled separately?

Yes. Each of the three mains sockets has its own button on the remote control, allowing individual on/off switching. The remote also has an all-on and all-off function for controlling all three sockets simultaneously.

What is the total load limit?

The extension lead is rated to 13A total load across all three mains sockets combined. This equates to approximately 3,000W at 230V. Do not exceed this total load even if individual appliances are rated below 13A each.
