The Masmena is a compact cube of cast aluminium in a clean white finish, 10.5cm across, 10.5cm high and standing 11cm out from the wall. Inside sit two integrated LEDs that send light both upward and downward, so the cube casts two soft fans of light across the wall. Each LED gives 340 lumens from 3.3W, in a 3000K warm white. It is rated IP54, which means it is protected against dust and splashing water, so it can live outdoors on a house wall.

We like it beside a front door, along a terrace or spaced in a row on a garden wall, where the up and down beams turn a plain surface into a pattern of light after dark. Because it is made for outdoor walls, it suits porches, patios and side passages, and its small size means it never crowds a narrow stretch of brick or render. It works just as well indoors, in a hallway or on a landing, where the same warm wash gives a gentle glow for the evening. A pair either side of a door gives a balanced, welcoming look without taking up much room.

The body is cast aluminium, a metal that does not rust the way steel does, finished in white so it sits quietly against pale render or a light painted wall. There is no switch on the light itself: it runs from your wall switch on a 220-240V mains supply. It is not dimmable, so it belongs on an ordinary on and off switch rather than a dimmer. The LEDs are integrated, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It carries energy class F and weighs 0.872KG packed. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
