Description

Marble is a wall mirror 121cm high by 83cm wide, printed with the veining of a marble block directly onto the silvered glass. The veins run in black with a bronze undertone that lifts where the light crosses them, graded from fine threads to broad seams the way they would be in a cut slab. Unlike quarried stone, every mirror is identical and the pattern is placed rather than found. A fine matt gold frame runs around the whole edge.

It hangs in four directions, so the veining can run upright or across, and turning it changes which seams read as the heavy ones. That makes it worth holding against the wall both ways before marking. It suits a hallway, a bedroom or a living room, and it is rated bathroom proof, so a bathroom is open to it as well. At 14kg and 2cm deep it is a one person lift and sits close to the wall, with two screws, washers and plugs supplied and nothing to assemble. Give it a plain wall rather than a papered one: the printed veining is doing the work and a patterned ground fights it.

The glass is printed and mirrored, and the frame is gold coloured metal in a matt finish. Clean it with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth rather than onto the glass, and dust the frame dry.
