Description

The MAGfire MAG4 is a conventional 4-zone fire alarm panel housed in a metal enclosure, designed for small to medium commercial installations where up to four detection zones are required. Each zone supports up to 30 fire detectors plus an unlimited number of manual call points, with active end-of-line monitoring that flags both wiring faults and detector head removal.

Built for compliance with BS5839 Part 1 and EN54 Parts 2 and 4, the panel suits offices, small retail units, light industrial buildings and residential blocks where a conventional (non-addressable) fire alarm system is specified. The front panel provides zone indication, system status LEDs, an integral sounder test button, and individual zone isolation switches. Two volt-free changeover relays (one for fire, one for fault) allow integration with building management systems or remote signalling equipment.

The metal case provides IP30 ingress protection and physical security for the panel's internal circuitry and battery compartment, which accepts a single 12V standby battery (sold separately). A class change facility allows the panel to be reconfigured between automatic detection operation and manual call point-only operation without rewiring. The one-man walk test mode enables a single engineer to test detector response across all zones without requiring a second person at the panel, reducing commissioning and maintenance time.

What's the maximum number of devices per zone?

Each zone supports up to 30 fire detectors (smoke, heat or multi-sensor heads) plus an unlimited number of manual call points. The panel monitors each zone with active end-of-line resistors, so detector head removal or open-circuit wiring triggers a fault indication.

Is this panel BS5839 compliant?

Yes. The MAG4 is certified to BS5839 Part 1 (the UK code of practice for fire detection and alarm systems in buildings) and EN54 Parts 2 and 4 (European fire alarm control and indicating equipment standards). It is CE marked.

What battery does it require?

The panel requires one 12V standby battery, typically a 7Ah or 12Ah sealed lead-acid type depending on the sounder load and required standby duration. The battery is sold separately and fits inside the metal enclosure.

Can it integrate with a building management system?

Yes. The panel provides two volt-free changeover relays — one activates on fire condition, one on fault condition. These can be wired to BMS inputs, auto-diallers or remote signalling equipment for off-site monitoring.
