Description

The MAGfire BPS-5 is a 24V DC 5 amp regulated power supply housed in a white steel enclosure, designed to power fire alarm systems and associated equipment. The unit converts 230V AC mains to a stable 24V DC output at up to 5 amps continuous load, with internal regulation to maintain voltage stability under varying current draw.

Intended for commercial and residential fire alarm installations where a reliable, regulated DC supply is required to operate control panels, detectors, sounders and other 24V fire alarm components. The steel box mounts to a wall or in a riser cupboard, with cable entry points at the base and rear of the enclosure. The front panel includes LED indicators for mains power and fault status, allowing installers to verify supply status at a glance.

The enclosure measures 342 x 322 x 90mm and weighs 2.84kg, providing secure housing for the internal transformer, rectifier and regulation circuitry. The white powder-coated steel finish suits utility rooms, plant rooms and risers where appearance is functional rather than decorative. Ventilation slots on the enclosure sides allow heat dissipation during continuous operation, and the lockable front panel prevents unauthorised access to internal wiring.

Frequently Asked

What systems is this power supply compatible with?

The BPS-5 provides regulated 24V DC at up to 5 amps, making it compatible with most fire alarm control panels, detectors, sounders and other components that operate on 24V DC. Check the current draw of your specific system components to ensure the 5 amp capacity is sufficient.

Does it include battery backup?

The specification does not indicate an internal battery compartment or charging circuit. Fire alarm systems typically require separate battery backup provision if standby power is needed during mains failure.

How is it wired to the mains?

The unit accepts 230V AC mains input via cable entry points at the base and rear of the enclosure. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with BS 7671 wiring regulations and relevant fire alarm standards. The product manual provides full wiring diagrams.

What are the LED indicators for?

The front panel carries LED indicators showing mains power status and fault conditions, allowing installers and maintenance engineers to verify supply operation without opening the enclosure.
