Description

The MAGfire FHD212 is a 12V fixed temperature heat detector certified to EN54-5 standard, supplied with a relay base for conventional fire alarm systems. The detector activates when ambient temperature reaches a fixed threshold, making it suitable for environments where smoke detectors would false-alarm due to dust, steam or cooking fumes.

Designed for kitchens, garages, boiler rooms, dusty workshops and commercial catering spaces, the detector operates on 9-30V DC conventional fire alarm panels and carries Class A2S rating. The included relay base allows the detector head to be removed for cleaning or replacement without rewiring the base, and provides relay contact outputs for auxiliary functions like duct damper closure or local alarm sounders.

The white thermoplastic housing contains a bimetallic element that closes a contact when the fixed temperature threshold is reached, triggering the alarm zone on the connected fire panel. The detector sits flush to the ceiling with a low-profile 100mm diameter footprint and is rated IP30 for indoor use. EN54-5 certification confirms compliance with European fire safety standards for heat-sensitive fire detectors.

The FHD212 is a fixed temperature detector with a Class A2S rating. The exact activation temperature is specified in the datasheet, typically around 54-58°C for standard A2S detectors. Check the Product Specification Sheet in the Downloads tab for the precise threshold.

Why use a heat detector instead of a smoke detector?

Heat detectors are preferred in kitchens, garages, workshops and other environments where smoke, steam, dust or fumes would cause frequent false alarms on smoke detectors. They respond only to temperature rise, not to airborne particles.

What fire alarm panels is this compatible with?

The detector operates on conventional fire alarm panels with 9-30V DC output. It connects via two-wire conventional zone wiring and is not compatible with analogue addressable systems.

Can the detector head be removed without rewiring?

Yes. The detector head twists off the relay base, allowing cleaning, inspection or head replacement without disconnecting wiring at the base. This simplifies maintenance in multi-detector installations.
