Maddison 2 Light Bathroom Crystal Wall Light - Chrome IP44

The Maddison is a 2-light bathroom wall light built around a polished chrome frame hung with rectangular and square-cut crystal drops. The two-tier construction mounts rectangular crystals on the upper ring and longer crystal bars on the lower ring, with the chrome frame visible through the arrangement. Each tier holds a single G9 bulb (sold separately), positioned centrally behind the crystal to refract light through the faceted edges.

Rated IP44, the Maddison is suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, typically mounted either side of a mirror or above a vanity where spray from a shower or bath cannot reach directly. At 250mm width and 280mm height, the fitting suits mid-sized bathroom mirrors and vanities between 800-1200mm wide when mounted in pairs. The 150mm projection from the wall places the crystals forward of the mounting plate, giving the fixture physical depth when viewed from the side.

The polished chrome finish reflects ambient light and creates a bright metallic accent against white tile, painted walls or stone cladding. The crystal configuration uses straight rectangular bars rather than rounded or curved elements, giving the piece a geometric rather than organic appearance. Each crystal piece is faceted to catch and scatter light at multiple angles, producing highlights and reflections across the bathroom when the bulbs are on. The 1.8kg weight requires secure fixing into a solid wall or timber stud rather than plasterboard alone.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating makes the Maddison suitable for bathroom zones 2 and 3, where the fitting is at least 600mm from the edge of a shower or bath. It cannot be installed directly above a bathtub or within a shower enclosure.

What bulbs does it take?

The Maddison takes two G9 bulbs up to 33W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED G9 bulbs between 3W-5W and 2700K-3000K for bathroom mirror lighting. Dimmable bulbs are required if using a dimmer switch.

How is it cleaned?

Switch off the power at the consumer unit before cleaning. Wipe the chrome frame and crystal drops with a soft dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks on the crystal, a barely-damp cloth is acceptable, but dry immediately. Do not use chemical sprays or abrasive cleaners on either the chrome or crystal.

Can it be mounted above a mirror?

Yes, though the 280mm height and 150mm projection mean the fitting sits quite far forward from the wall when viewed from below. Mounting either side of a mirror is more common for this style of wall light, where the projection and height work better with typical viewing angles.
