Description

The LYYT Wide Crown is a 1m surface-mount aluminium LED profile with a black anodised finish and a crowned opal diffuser. The profile measures 24mm wide by 11mm high externally, with an internal channel 20mm wide by 7mm deep to accommodate LED tape strips up to 20mm width. The diffuser presents a 21mm visible surface when clipped into place, creating a low-profile linear light feature on walls, under cabinets or along shelving.

Designed for direct surface mounting rather than recessed installation, the profile suits applications where cutting into plasterboard or timber is impractical or undesirable. The black finish integrates into dark-painted walls, black kitchen plinths, charcoal joinery and contemporary interiors where a visible aluminium profile would create unwanted contrast. The crowned diffuser shape softens the light output and hides the individual LED dots on the tape from direct view, producing a continuous line of diffused light rather than visible point sources.

The 1m length is supplied as a single extrusion with end caps and mounting clips included. Multiple profiles can be joined end-to-end using separate linking accessories (sold separately) to create longer runs. The snap-fit diffuser removes without tools for LED tape installation and maintenance access. The 7mm internal depth accommodates most single-row LED tapes; check your tape thickness before ordering if using high-density or double-row variants.

What width LED tape does it take?

The internal channel is 20mm wide, so LED tapes up to 20mm width will fit. Most standard single-row LED tapes are 8mm, 10mm or 12mm wide and will sit comfortably inside the profile with room for cable routing.

Can it be recessed into a wall or ceiling?

No. The LYYT Wide Crown is designed for surface mounting only. For recessed installation you need a profile with flanges that sit flush with the plasterboard or timber surface — see the recessed profile range instead.

How is the diffuser fitted?

The opal diffuser is a snap-fit component that clips into grooves inside the aluminium channel. It can be removed and refitted by hand without tools, making LED tape installation and later maintenance straightforward.

Can multiple profiles be joined end-to-end?

Yes. Linking clips or connectors (sold separately) allow you to join 1m sections into longer continuous runs. Check the LYYT accessories range for compatible joining hardware.
