Description
The LYYT waterproof LED profile is a 1m aluminium surface-mount housing designed to protect LED tape installations in wet and damp environments. The profile measures 16mm wide by 9mm tall externally, with a 13.1mm x 5mm internal channel that accepts standard LED tape up to 13mm wide. A knock-in frosted diffuser seals the top of the channel, creating an IP68 waterproof barrier when installed correctly.
Designed for kitchens, bathrooms, wet rooms, outdoor covered areas and hospitality environments where moisture exposure is expected, the profile can be surface-mounted on walls, ceilings, floors or under kitchen cabinets. The IP68 rating confirms the profile can withstand temporary immersion in water up to 1m depth, making it suitable for areas around sinks, showers and external covered doorways where splashing or condensation occurs.
The aluminium extrusion acts as a heat sink, dissipating heat from the LED tape inside and extending the operational life of the LEDs. The frosted diffuser softens the individual LED diode points into a continuous line of light, reducing the dotting effect visible with bare tape. The 16mm visible width gives a discreet linear accent when mounted under cabinets or along architectural features, with minimal visual projection from the mounting surface.

Frequently Asked
What width LED tape does it accept?
The internal channel measures 13.1mm wide, so LED tape up to 13mm wide fits inside. Most standard 10mm and 12mm wide LED tape reels are compatible. Check your specific tape width before ordering.
Is the IP68 rating guaranteed in all installations?
The IP68 seal depends on the diffuser being knocked fully into the channel and both ends of the profile being sealed with end caps (sold separately). Without proper end sealing, moisture can enter from the profile ends and compromise the IP rating.
How is the profile mounted?
The profile is surface-mounted using adhesive tape on the rear channel (supplied with some LED tapes) or with screws or clips through the base (not included). The mounting method depends on the surface material and whether the installation is permanent or temporary.
Can it be cut to custom lengths?
Yes. The aluminium extrusion can be cut with a hacksaw or mitre saw to any length shorter than 1m. Cutting does not affect the IP rating as long as the cut ends are sealed with appropriate end caps after installation.
