Description

The LYYT Short Crown is a 1m black aluminium extrusion designed for surface-mounting LED tape in low-clearance applications. The profile measures 18mm wide by 9mm tall externally, with a 12.5mm x 7mm internal channel that accepts standard LED tape widths up to 12mm. A snap-fit crowned diffuser covers the channel, softening the point-source appearance of individual LEDs into a continuous line of light.

Designed for under-cabinet kitchen lighting, shelf accent lighting, and tight-clearance furniture detailing where a slim profile is needed, the Short Crown sits lower than standard 16mm or 20mm profiles. The black anodised finish blends into dark worktops, furniture edges and charcoal-painted surfaces, making the housing itself less visible when the LED is off. Surface mounting brackets are included, allowing the profile to be fixed to vertical or horizontal surfaces without recessing.

The crowned diffuser design creates a domed top rather than a flat lens, which helps to spread light laterally as well as downwards. The diffuser clips onto the aluminium channel without tools, giving access to the LED tape inside for maintenance or replacement. The 1m length can be cut to size on-site using a hacksaw, and end caps are available separately to finish cut ends cleanly.

The internal channel is 12.5mm wide and 7mm deep, so it accepts standard LED tape widths up to 12mm. Most single-row and some double-row LED tapes fit within this dimension.

Can it be cut to length?

Yes. The 1m aluminium extrusion can be cut to any shorter length using a hacksaw. End caps are available separately to finish cut ends and prevent light spill from the profile ends.

How is it mounted?

Surface mounting brackets are included with the profile. These clip onto the back of the aluminium channel and allow it to be screwed to vertical or horizontal surfaces without needing a routed recess.

Is the diffuser removable?

Yes. The crowned diffuser snaps onto the aluminium channel and can be removed without tools, giving access to the LED tape inside for installation, maintenance or replacement.
