Description

The LYYT shallow section LED profile is a 2m aluminium extrusion with a 16mm x 6mm external cross-section, designed for surface mounting where minimal projection from the wall or cabinet is required. The internal channel measures 11mm x 4mm, accepting LED tape up to 10mm wide, and a snap-fit polycarbonate diffuser covers the opening to spread light evenly and eliminate individual LED hotspots.

Designed for under-cabinet lighting, display shelving, wardrobes and other installations where a low-profile housing is needed, the shallow section sits 6mm proud of the mounting surface once installed. The aluminium extrusion acts as a heat sink for the LED tape, extending operational life and maintaining consistent brightness over time. The profile is supplied with end caps and mounting clips for surface installation on wood, plasterboard or metal substrates.

The 2m length can be cut to size on-site using a hacksaw or mitre saw, allowing the profile to be fitted to exact cabinet widths or alcove dimensions without wastage. The snap-fit diffuser removes without tools for LED tape installation and cleaning. The aluminium finish is uncoated natural silver, which can be left as-is for a contemporary industrial look or painted to match cabinetry if preferred.

Can the profile be cut to length?

Yes. The 2m extrusion can be cut using a hacksaw or mitre saw to fit exact cabinet widths or alcove dimensions. Cut ends accept the supplied end caps to give a finished appearance.

Is the diffuser opaque or frosted?

The snap-fit diffuser is frosted polycarbonate, which softens the light output and hides individual LED diodes while maintaining good light transmission. The diffuser appears as an even white strip when the LEDs are on.

How is the profile mounted?

The profile is supplied with metal mounting clips that screw into the substrate (cabinet underside, wall, or ceiling). The aluminium extrusion then clips into the brackets. Alternatively, the flat back of the profile can be fixed directly using double-sided tape or adhesive for lighter installations.
