Description

The LYYT recessed LED strip profile is a 1m length of extruded aluminium channel designed to sit flush with the mounting surface, creating an invisible trim for LED tape installations. The external cross-section measures 22mm wide by 6mm deep, with an internal channel of 11mm x 4mm that accepts standard-width LED strip. A snap-fit polycarbonate diffuser sits flush with the profile's top edge, giving an 11mm visible light aperture once installed.

Designed for under-cabinet lighting, shelf edge lighting, furniture trim and recessed wall detail, the profile requires a routed channel or rebate in the mounting surface to sit flush. The aluminium body acts as a heat sink for the LED strip, extending bulb life and preventing hotspots, while the diffuser softens the individual LED points into a continuous line of light. Mounting clips are included for fixing the profile into the routed channel before the LED strip is inserted.

The low 6mm depth allows the profile to be recessed into 18mm MFC board or 12mm ply with minimal structural impact, making it practical for kitchen cabinets, shelving units and joinery work. The aluminium finish is mill-grade silver and can be left as-is or painted to match surrounding surfaces. The diffuser clips in and out without tools, allowing LED strip to be replaced or repositioned during installation.

What width LED strip does this profile accept?

The internal channel measures 11mm x 4mm. Standard 8mm and 10mm width LED strip will fit comfortably. Wider strips (12mm+) will not fit this profile.

How is the profile installed flush?

You need to rout or cut a channel in the mounting surface that matches the 22mm x 6mm external dimensions of the profile. The profile then sits in this channel with its top edge flush with the surface. Mounting clips (included) hold it in place before the LED strip is inserted.

Can the diffuser be removed after installation?

Yes. The polycarbonate diffuser uses a snap-fit design and can be removed and re-fitted without tools, allowing access to the LED strip for replacement or adjustment.

What board thickness is needed for recessed fitting?

The 6mm depth means the profile can be recessed into 12mm ply or 18mm MFC board and still leave sufficient material thickness around the channel for structural integrity. Thinner boards may require surface-mounting rather than recessing.
