Description

The LYYT deep section LED profile is a 2m aluminium extrusion designed for surface-mounting LED tape where enhanced diffusion is required. The 16x12mm external profile houses an 11x9mm internal cavity, giving extra depth compared to standard shallow profiles. This deeper cavity allows the LED tape to sit further behind the diffuser, reducing visible hotspots and creating a more uniform light output along the length of the profile.

Surface-mounted profiles suit applications where recessing into the substrate is impractical or undesirable, such as retrofitting onto existing joinery, under-cabinet lighting, display shelving edges, or architectural accent walls. The aluminium body is fixed to the surface with mounting clips (supplied), and the LED tape adheres to the base of the internal cavity. The snap-fit diffuser then clips into the front channel, concealing the tape and spreading the light evenly across the 11mm visible width.

The aluminium construction acts as a heat sink, drawing heat away from the LED tape and extending its operational life. The profile is supplied in a 2m length and can be cut to size on-site using a hacksaw or metal cutting blade. End caps and mounting accessories are included. The diffuser is opal polycarbonate, offering good diffusion without excessive light loss, and can be removed and re-clipped for maintenance or tape replacement without tools.

What width LED tape does this profile accept?

The internal cavity is 11mm wide, so it accepts LED tape up to 10mm in width. Standard 8mm and 10mm LED tape fits comfortably. Wider tapes will not fit inside the profile.

Can the profile be cut to length?

Yes. The 2m aluminium extrusion can be cut to size on-site using a hacksaw or a metal cutting blade on a mitre saw. Cut carefully to maintain a clean, square edge for fitting end caps.

Is the diffuser removable?

Yes. The opal polycarbonate diffuser snaps into the front channel of the profile and can be removed by hand for cleaning, LED tape installation, or replacement. No tools are needed to remove or refit the diffuser.

What's included with the profile?

The profile is supplied with the aluminium extrusion, snap-fit diffuser, end caps and mounting clips. LED tape, power supply and wiring are sold separately.
