Description

The LYYT D Section is a 2m aluminium LED profile with a semi-circular cross-section and a clip-in polycarbonate diffuser that creates a 180° light spread. The profile measures 19mm wide by 15mm tall externally, with an internal channel of 13mm × 8mm designed to accept LED tape up to 12mm wide. The diffuser clips into the open side of the D-shaped extrusion and softens the individual LED points into a continuous band of light.

Designed for surface mounting, the profile fixes directly to shelves, under-cabinet runs, alcove edges, or feature walls using the flat back of the extrusion. The shallow 15mm height keeps the profile low-profile against mounting surfaces, while the semi-circular diffuser projects light outward in a wide arc rather than focusing it downward like recessed profiles. End caps (included) close the channel at each end of the 2m length, preventing dust ingress and finishing the installation cleanly.

The aluminium extrusion acts as a heat sink for the LED tape, improving lifespan and maintaining consistent light output compared to tape applied directly to wood or plasterboard. The 2m length can be cut to size with a hacksaw and paired with additional 2m sections to cover longer runs, using connectors to join LED tape runs inside the profile. The natural aluminium finish pairs with both warm and cool interiors without visible fixings once the diffuser is clipped in.

What width LED tape does it take?

The internal channel is 13mm wide and 8mm deep, accepting LED tape up to 12mm wide. Most standard 10mm and 12mm LED tapes fit without modification.

Can the profile be cut to length?

Yes. The 2m aluminium extrusion can be cut to size with a hacksaw. Cut the diffuser separately with a fine-tooth saw or sharp knife. End caps fit the cut ends once trimmed to length.

How is it mounted?

The flat back of the D-section profile fixes to the mounting surface using adhesive tape (double-sided VHB tape recommended) or small screws through pre-drilled holes in the extrusion. The diffuser clips in after the LED tape is installed inside the channel.

Does it include the LED tape?

No. The profile is sold as the extrusion, diffuser and end caps only. LED tape, power supply and connectors are sold separately and must be selected based on the required brightness and colour temperature.
