Description

The LYYT box section LED profile is a 2m length of extruded aluminium channel with a 20mm square external section and a 16.4mm internal aperture, designed to house LED tape up to 16mm wide. The profile ships with a clip-on opal diffuser, two end caps and mounting clips for surface fixing to walls, ceilings or under-cabinet runs.

Designed for architectural lighting applications where a clean, rectilinear light line is required without visible LED dots, the profile suits accent lighting on shelving, under-cabinet task lighting, wall-wash runs, retail display cases and perimeter cove lighting. The 20mm external width keeps the profile visually low-profile when surface-mounted, while the 11.6mm internal depth allows clearance for most standard LED tape products including those with taller SMD chips.

The aluminium channel acts as a passive heat sink, drawing heat away from the LED tape and extending diode life. The opal diffuser clips into the channel opening and diffuses the point sources of the LEDs into a continuous light line, eliminating hot-spotting. The profile is supplied in mill-finish aluminium and can be cut to length on-site with a hacksaw or mitre saw fitted with a metal-cutting blade.

What width LED tape does it take?

The internal aperture is 16.4mm wide, so the profile accepts LED tape up to 16mm wide including most standard 12mm, 14mm and 16mm products. Measure your tape before ordering to confirm fit.

Can it be cut to shorter lengths?

Yes. The aluminium channel can be cut to any required length with a hacksaw or mitre saw fitted with a metal-cutting blade. Cut the diffuser to match using a fine-tooth saw or sharp knife and straight edge.

How is it mounted?

The profile ships with mounting clips that screw to the surface (wall, ceiling, underside of cabinet) and hold the aluminium channel in place. The diffuser then clips into the open face of the channel, trapping the LED tape inside.

Does it come with LED tape?

No. The profile is sold as the housing only. LED tape, drivers and controllers are sold separately. Choose tape that matches the 16.4mm internal width and the intended application.
