Description

The LYYT 24V DC 250W power supply delivers 10.4A constant voltage output through an IP67-rated weatherproof aluminium enclosure with integral heat-dissipation fins. The unit accepts 190-250V AC mains input and converts it to regulated 24V DC output suitable for LED tape, strip lighting and other constant-voltage LED installations requiring stable power.

Designed for both indoor and outdoor installations, the IP67 rating allows the power supply to be mounted in damp locations, under-eave outdoor positions, garden lighting circuits and commercial facade lighting where the unit may be exposed to rain, moisture or dust. The enclosure seals the electronics and terminal connections behind a gasketed cover, while the ribbed aluminium casing acts as a passive heatsink to maintain safe operating temperatures under continuous load.

The power supply includes integral short circuit protection that isolates the output if the load draws excessive current or if the output terminals are accidentally bridged during installation. A single output feed is provided via screw terminals capable of handling the full 10.4A output, allowing up to 250W of 24V LED tape to be run from one unit. The 240 x 90 x 40mm aluminium housing weighs 1.46kg and can be bracket-mounted using the integral fixing tabs on each end of the casing.

Input voltage tolerance of 190-250V AC means the power supply remains stable across the range of mains voltages encountered in UK and European installations, including voltage drop on long cable runs or sites with marginal supply quality. The constant-voltage regulation maintains 24V DC output across the full load range from zero to 10.4A, preventing LED flicker or colour shift that can occur with poorly-regulated supplies.

Frequently Asked

How much LED tape can this power supply run?

The 250W output at 24V DC provides 10.4A total current. Typical 24V LED tape draws 4.8-9.6W per metre depending on LED density, so this unit can run approximately 26-52 metres of tape. Always check the tape's wattage-per-metre specification and calculate total load before connection.

Can it be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP67 rating means the enclosure is sealed against dust and can withstand temporary immersion to 1m depth, making it suitable for outdoor mounting in locations sheltered from direct water jets. Typical applications include under-eave mounting, weatherproof junction boxes and garden lighting positions.

Does it need cooling or ventilation?

The ribbed aluminium casing acts as a passive heatsink. No additional cooling is required, but the unit should be mounted where air can circulate around the fins. Avoid enclosing the power supply in a sealed box or burying it in insulation.

What happens if the output is short-circuited?

The integral short circuit protection isolates the output if excessive current is drawn or if the output terminals are accidentally bridged. Disconnect the load, identify and clear the fault, then restore mains power to reset the protection.
