Description

The LYYT 230V IP44 LED rope light comes on a 45m reel with 36 red LEDs per metre housed inside a 13mm diameter translucent PVC tube. The rope operates directly on 230V mains via a power connector lead (153.624UK, sold separately) and produces a continuous red glow along its length. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes and solid objects above 1mm, making the rope suitable for outdoor installation in sheltered positions, interior feature lighting, shopfront signage, and event displays.

The rope can be cut at 1m intervals where marked, allowing runs to be sized to fit specific installation lengths without wasting cable. Each cut section requires end caps or a connector to remain safely live. Up to two 45m reels can be connected end-to-end using linking accessories (sold separately), giving a maximum run of 90m on a single circuit. The rope must be fully unwound from the reel before powering on to prevent heat build-up in the coiled sections.

The 16.4W per metre power draw is typical for 230V rope light and makes the system compatible with standard trailing-edge dimmers when paired with a suitable dimmer module. The minimum bending radius of 60mm allows the rope to follow curved edges, wrap columns, and outline architectural details without kinking the tube or stressing the internal wiring. The -20°C to 80°C operating range covers outdoor winter installation in the UK and internal use near moderate heat sources.

The 25,000-hour rated lamp life equates to approximately 2.8 years of continuous operation or over a decade of seasonal use at 6-8 hours per day. Red rope light is commonly specified for Christmas and festive displays, branded retail installations, safety demarcation lines, and themed event lighting where a saturated red output is required.

Can the rope be cut to custom lengths?

The rope can only be cut at the marked 1m intervals. Cutting between these points will damage the circuit and leave a dead section. Each cut end requires an end cap or connector to remain safely operational.

Is a power connector included?

No. The rope requires a separate power connector lead (AVSL part 153.624UK) to connect to mains. End caps, linking connectors and mounting clips are also sold separately.

Is this rope suitable for permanent outdoor installation?

The IP44 rating protects against water splashes and is suitable for sheltered outdoor positions such as under eaves, canopies or covered walkways. It is not rated for full exposure to driving rain or submersion.

Is the rope dimmable?

Yes, when paired with a suitable trailing-edge dimmer module. Standard rotary lamp dimmers may not be compatible with the 230V LED circuit. Check dimmer specifications before purchasing.
