Description

The LYYT 100W power supply converts 185-250Vac mains to regulated 12Vdc output, delivering up to 8.3A continuous current in a sealed IP67 aluminium housing. The unit takes UK mains input and provides a single output feed via cable glands on the base, designed for permanent installation powering LED tape, LED strip lighting and other 12V DC loads in outdoor or damp indoor environments.

The IP67 rating protects the internal circuitry against dust ingress and immersion in water up to 1m depth for 30 minutes, making the supply suitable for external building facades, garden lighting runs, pool surrounds, bathrooms and kitchens where moisture exposure is expected. The ribbed aluminium case dissipates heat passively without requiring active cooling fans, keeping the unit silent during operation. The 215 x 51 x 35mm footprint allows mounting on joists, behind panels or in recessed ceiling voids where a traditional open-frame supply would not meet safety requirements.

At 8.3A output the supply handles up to 8.3 metres of high-density 12W-per-metre LED tape on a single feed, or 16.6 metres of standard 6W-per-metre strip, before requiring a second parallel supply to maintain voltage across longer runs. The unit weighs 610g including the sealed cable glands, giving it enough mass to remain stable when wall-mounted without additional brackets. Input and output cables exit via IP67-rated glands that seal around the cable jacket, maintaining the waterproof integrity of the enclosure once installed.

Can this power outdoor LED tape?

Yes. The IP67 rating protects the supply against rain, ground moisture and temporary immersion, making it suitable for garden lighting, building facades and other exterior LED tape installations. The LED tape itself must also carry an IP rating appropriate for outdoor use.

How much LED tape can it drive?

At 100W output the supply handles up to 8.3 metres of 12W-per-metre high-density LED tape, or 16.6 metres of 6W-per-metre standard strip. Longer runs require a second supply in parallel or intermediate repeater amplifiers to maintain voltage.

Does it need ventilation when installed?

The aluminium case dissipates heat passively through the ribbed fins. The unit does not require forced ventilation or air gaps but should not be covered with insulation or enclosed in a sealed box where heat cannot radiate away from the metal surface.

What cable glands does it use?

The unit has two IP67-rated cable glands on the base — one for mains input, one for 12V DC output. The glands seal around the cable jacket to maintain waterproof integrity. Maximum cable diameter depends on the gland size — see the manual for exact specifications.
