Description

The Luxeon is a 190mm diameter spherical pendant light with a white opal glass globe housing an integrated dimmable 10W LED at 3000K. The extruded aluminium canopy and cable grip are finished in white to match the glass, and the pendant hangs on a 2200mm adjustable cable from a ceiling rose.

Designed for kitchens, dining areas, hallways and bathrooms (IP20 rated for zones outside splash areas), the Luxeon provides omnidirectional ambient light through the opal glass diffuser. The 120mm projection and compact globe suit lower ceilings or areas where a larger pendant would feel out of proportion. The dimmable LED pairs with most trailing-edge dimmers, allowing the light level to be adjusted from full brightness down to a low-level glow suitable for evening use.

The opal glass globe diffuses the LED source completely, preventing glare and hot-spots when viewed from any angle. The extruded aluminium construction keeps the weight low at under 1kg while maintaining structural rigidity across the canopy and cable grip. The white finish on both metal and glass presents as a single continuous material under most lighting conditions, giving the pendant a monolithic appearance when hung.

Manufactured by Ideal Lux in Italy, the Luxeon carries a 5-year warranty and uses standard UK wiring compatible with ceiling roses rated for pendant installation. The 3000K colour temperature provides warm white light similar to halogen, making it a direct replacement for older incandescent globe pendants in residential settings.

Is the Luxeon dimmable?

Yes. The integrated 10W LED is dimmable and pairs with most trailing-edge dimmers designed for LED loads. Confirm dimmer compatibility before installation — not all legacy dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs will work correctly with LED.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The IP20 rating limits the Luxeon to areas outside splash zones. In a bathroom, this means the pendant can be hung above the dry zone (typically 2.25m or higher from the floor) or in areas well away from baths, showers and basins.

What ceiling height is needed?

The 120mm height of the globe plus the canopy gives a total pendant height of approximately 170mm before cable. The 2200mm cable allows the pendant to be shortened on installation to suit ceiling heights from 2.4m upwards, with the globe typically positioned 600-900mm below the ceiling in most residential rooms.

How is the glass cleaned?

Switch off at the mains before cleaning. Wipe the opal glass with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the glass or letting water run into the cable grip or canopy.
