Lunar Outdoor Wall Light - Grey

The Lunar is a 220mm grey outdoor wall light with a die-cast aluminium body and a satin-finish Pyrex glass diffuser positioned at the base to cast light downwards. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and carries an IP55 rating, providing protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction.

Designed for installation above doorways, along garden walls, on porch exteriors, and flanking garage doors, the Lunar provides functional downward illumination for pathways, steps and entrance areas while remaining visible as a decorative accent during daylight. The 85mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting close to the building line without protruding into narrow walkways. The grey powder-coated finish suits both traditional brick and rendered facades as well as contemporary cladding systems.

The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and urban environments better than pressed steel alternatives, while the Pyrex diffuser withstands thermal shock from rapid temperature changes when switching the bulb on during cold evenings. The fitting accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to the maximum wattage shown in the Specification table, giving flexibility to choose warm white, cool white or daylight temperatures depending on the application. Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulb chosen rather than the fitting itself.

What does IP55 mean for outdoor use?

IP55 indicates protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction. The fitting can withstand rain, garden hose spray during cleaning, and exposure to windblown dust, but should not be submerged or subjected to high-pressure jet washing.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb. Most users install a warm white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for domestic entrances, or a cooler 4000K-5000K daylight bulb for security and commercial applications. Check the Specification table for the maximum wattage rating.

Can it be installed under a porch roof?

Yes. The IP55 rating is suitable for sheltered positions under porch roofs, canopies and eaves as well as fully exposed walls. Installation under shelter extends the life of the powder coating and reduces cleaning frequency.

Is the grey finish prone to fading?

The powder-coated grey finish on die-cast aluminium resists UV fading better than painted pressed steel. Some gradual dulling may occur over several years in direct southern sun exposure, but the colour remains stable in most UK outdoor conditions.
