Luna Black Rect. L is a square wall mirror two metres each way, made as two panes set apart with a strip of black lacquered glass running down the gap between them. It is the rectangular member of the Luna range, where the others are discs, and at this size the division does more work: the dark line runs the full two metres and gives the square a vertical it would not otherwise have. The design is by Studio Segers.

Two metres square needs a wall chosen for it rather than a space between furniture: a stairwell, a hallway with the length to stand back in, or a living room where it can sit clear on both sides. It arrives in parts and is assembled on the wall, which is the only way a piece this size gets into a room. It hangs in one direction, with the joint upright. At 54kg it is a genuine two person lift and the fixings must reach something structural rather than plasterboard alone. It is not rated for bathroom use.

The mirror is mirrored glass with a black lacquered glass strip at the joint. Clean the glass with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth, working outwards from the joint rather than across it so the lacquered strip is not dragged over. The strip sits deeper than the glass either side of it, so the channel collects dust more readily than a flat pane and repays a dry brush. Seven year warranty, made in Europe.
