Lumina Fluted Recycled Glass Pendant Light - Clear

The Lumina is a tall narrow tube of clear recycled glass, fluted from top to bottom, rounded and closed at the base and open at the top where a brass lampholder cap sits over it. The flutes run the full height as shallow vertical ribs, and the tube widens a little towards the base before it turns in. Above the cap it hangs on a rust coloured braided fabric flex, with no chain. It is 29cm long and 14cm across.

The tube is narrow, so it gives a column of light rather than a pool, and the ribs break the bulb into vertical lines that show from every side. Hung in a row over a kitchen island they read as a set of lit lines at eye level. One on its own marks a spot rather than washing a room, which suits a place over a sink or at the end of a run of worktop. It takes one E27 bulb up to 70W, it is dimmable, and the flex runs 1.5m.

The glass is recycled and blown into a mould, so the flutes are even while the wall carries the marks of the blowing and no two tubes are identical. The cap is brass and the flex is rust coloured fabric. The Lumina range also holds a larger version of this pendant and a cluster of them on a single ceiling plate. Bulbs are not included.

Can several be hung over an island?

Yes. Each comes on its own 1.5m flex, and at 14cm across they sit close together without touching. The range also has a cluster version on one ceiling plate where only a single ceiling point is available.

Will the bulb be visible?

Yes. The glass is clear and the ribs are shallow, so the bulb shows as a row of vertical highlights down the tube rather than as one bright point.

What colour is the cable?

Rust, in braided fabric, with a brass cap where it meets the glass.

How do I clean it?

Switch it off and let the bulb cool, then wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth in a circular motion, following the flutes. Keep harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners off it.
