Description

A suspension kit does one job and does it well: it holds an LED panel clear of the ceiling on wires rather than sitting it in a grid. This one gives you four steel cables, each a metre long, with a gripper fitting on one end and a small ceiling bracket, screws and wall plugs for the fixing points. Connector caps are in the pack as well. It is an accessory rather than a light, so the panel itself, its driver and any control gear are bought separately.

Wire suspension is the usual answer where a plasterboard or concrete soffit has no ceiling void to drop a panel into: offices, shop floors, treatment rooms, garages, workshops and home studios fitted out in a plain modern style. Hanging the panel a little below the ceiling line lets light spill upward as well as down, which lifts the look of a low room and softens the hard edge a flush panel can leave. Rated IP20, it belongs in dry indoor spaces and should not be used outdoors or anywhere exposed to damp.

Work out your drop before you fix anything. Each cable is a metre, so a metre is the most you can hang; anything shorter is a matter of taking the slack up through the grip, and the four wires want to end level or the panel will read crooked from below. Fix the brackets into something solid, use the wall plugs where you are going into masonry, and leave the electrical connection to a competent person. It is sold as a single kit with all four wires in it, and the minimum order is one.
