Description

The LumiLife S18428 is an emergency lighting pack designed to keep LED panels operational during mains power failures, supporting panels up to 80W maximum load. The unit contains a rechargeable battery that automatically activates when mains power is lost, providing up to 3 hours of emergency illumination depending on the connected panel wattage.

Designed for commercial, retail and office installations where maintained emergency lighting is required under UK building regulations, the pack fits between the mains supply and the LED panel driver. Once mains power is restored, the internal battery automatically recharges to full capacity. The pack carries an IP20 rating, making it suitable for internal dry locations only — Zone 3 bathrooms or standard office and retail ceiling voids.

The white metal housing measures approximately 220mm × 95mm × 40mm and is designed to sit in the ceiling void above the panel, connected via the supplied plug-and-play connectors. Installation requires connecting the mains supply into the pack input, then connecting the pack output to the panel driver — no complex re-wiring of the panel itself. The ventilation grilles on both ends of the housing allow heat dissipation during charging and discharge cycles.

Frequently Asked

How long does the battery last during a power cut?

The pack provides up to 3 hours of emergency lighting depending on the wattage of the connected panel. A 40W panel will run longer than an 80W panel on the same battery charge. The exact duration depends on the panel load.

Does it work with any LED panel?

The pack is compatible with LED panels up to 80W maximum load. It connects between the mains supply and the panel driver, so the panel itself does not need any special emergency features. Check that your panel wattage does not exceed 80W before purchase.

How is the pack installed?

The pack sits in the ceiling void above the LED panel. Mains supply connects to the pack input, then the pack output connects to the panel driver using the supplied plug-and-play connectors. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with IET Wiring Regulations.

How often does the battery need replacing?

Rechargeable emergency pack batteries typically last 3-5 years depending on charge/discharge cycles and ambient temperature. LumiLife does not publish a specific replacement interval for this model — monitor the pack's test function to confirm battery health over time.
