Description

This is a recessed spotlight fitting for a single GU10 lamp, finished in chrome with a die cast aluminium body. No lamp is supplied, which is the point of buying a fitting on its own: you pick the GU10 that suits the room, and you can swap it years later without disturbing the ceiling. The fitting is rated at 50W, the ceiling figure for the lamp you put in it, and it runs from an ordinary 220-240V mains supply. It is fire rated for 30, 60 and 90 minutes. A quick connect terminal block sits on a folding bracket at the side, so the mains connection pushes home rather than being screwed down.

Recessed spotlights earn their keep in kitchens, hallways, landings and living rooms, where a line of them lights a worktop or a walkway evenly and leaves nothing hanging below the ceiling. Chrome reads brighter than white against a painted ceiling and picks up the tone of stainless appliances, glass splashbacks and brushed metal handles, so it is an easy match in a kitchen or a hallway with metal door furniture. Two sprung clips on the bezel compress as the fitting goes up into the cut-out and then spring out above the ceiling to hold it flat.

The fitting is listed as dimmable, so the dimming behaviour comes down to the lamp and the wall dimmer: choose a GU10 marked dimmable and a dimmer rated for low LED loads, and check the dimmer's minimum load against the total of the lamps on that circuit. It needs a 72mm cut-out and at least 122mm of ceiling void. It is sold as one fitting, with a minimum order of one. No. The fitting is supplied on its own, so you choose the GU10 lamp separately and can set the colour temperature and brightness to suit the room.

What size hole does it need in the ceiling?
