Description

The Lucellalis ground spike is a black powder-coated steel mounting accessory designed to secure outdoor spotlights in soft ground, garden beds, lawns and borders. The spike shaft measures 108mm from tip to mounting flange, with a 60mm-diameter circular top plate drilled to accept the base fixing of compatible Ideal Lux Lucellalis spotlights. A ribbed footplate near the top of the spike prevents the fitting from sinking further once driven to the correct depth.

Designed for garden accent lighting, border uplighting and pathway illumination, the spike allows spotlights to be repositioned seasonally as planting changes or as features grow. The tapered point pushes through clay, loam and sandy soils without pre-drilling, though harder or root-bound ground may benefit from a pilot hole. The ribbed footplate sits at or just below ground level once installed, leaving the spotlight sitting 60-80mm above the surface depending on the spotlight model.

The black powder-coated finish provides corrosion resistance in wet and frost-prone conditions and sits discreetly in planted borders without reflecting light back up into the spotlight beam. The 60mm top plate diameter accommodates standard Ideal Lux outdoor spotlight base fittings, and the two fixing holes accept M4 or M5 screws depending on the spotlight model. The spike is rated for outdoor use year-round and carries a 5-year warranty from Ideal Lux.

The spike pushes easily into soft and medium-firm soils. In compacted clay, gravel or root-bound ground, a pilot hole made with a metal rod or drill bit helps prevent the spike bending during installation.

Does the spike rust or corrode outdoors?

The powder-coated steel finish provides corrosion resistance in wet, frost and UV exposure. Over time in very wet or coastal conditions some surface weathering may occur, but the structural integrity remains intact under the 5-year warranty.

How deep should the spike be driven?

Drive the spike until the ribbed footplate sits at or just below ground level. This typically leaves the circular top plate 10-20mm above the surface, giving the spotlight a stable base without excessive projection.
