Description

This is a broad circular suspension plate finished in French Gold, made to take a flush fitting and hang it lower in the room. The fitting sits beneath the plate on a power cable, so a design meant to sit tight against the ceiling instead reads as a pendant. At 74cm across, the plate is wide enough to look deliberate rather than incidental, and the cable allows a drop of up to 3m with shorter settings for more ordinary heights.

We reach for this where a room has the height to spare and a flush fitting alone would look lost far overhead: stairwells, double-height halls, galleried landings, a dining room with a tall ceiling. It brings the light down to a height where it does some work, and puts the detail of the fitting where it can be seen. It suits anyone who has fallen for a flush design but needs it to hang, and it works as well over a long table as in the middle of a generous entrance hall. The plate carries a load of up to 40kg, which covers all but the heaviest fittings, and the power cable comes fitted. The French Gold finish has a warm, slightly antique cast that flatters brass and crystal alike. Keep it looking well by dusting with a clean, dry lint-free cloth; nothing abrasive and no solvent-based sprays, which dull plated gold. It carries a two year warranty.
