Linyi Blue & White Ceramic Table Lamp With Tall Empire Shade

The Linyi is a 540mm table lamp built around a hand-painted ceramic base decorated with blue floral and scrollwork motifs on a white glaze, topped with a tall ivory cotton empire shade. The ceramic base draws on traditional Chinese porcelain techniques, with layered botanical patterns arranged in horizontal bands across the jar-shaped body. A brass fitting at the neck of the jar connects to the E27 lampholder inside the shade.

Designed for sideboards, console tables and bedside use in rooms where traditional or oriental-influenced interiors predominate, the Linyi provides ambient lighting through the pleated fabric shade while the ceramic base acts as a decorative object when the lamp is off. The 350mm-diameter shade sits 255mm above the top of the ceramic base, giving the lamp balanced proportions on surfaces at standard table height (700-750mm). The black timber plinth beneath the ceramic adds 30mm of height and protects furniture finishes from direct ceramic contact.

The ivory cotton shade is box-pleated along its length, creating vertical folds that diffuse light evenly and soften the glow. The blue and white colouring on the ceramic base pairs with both warm timber furniture and cooler grey-blue upholstery schemes. The lamp accepts any standard E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose warm or neutral white light depending on room use.

What bulb does it take?

The lamp takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for ambient evening lighting.

Is the ceramic base fragile?

The ceramic is fired porcelain with a glazed finish, similar in durability to decorative chinaware. It will withstand normal tabletop use but should be handled with care during moving or cleaning. The black timber plinth provides a stable base and protects surfaces from scratches.

Can the shade be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The shade lifts off the lamp fitting for dusting or spot-cleaning. The 100% cotton box pleat fabric can be vacuumed gently with a brush attachment or wiped with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid soaking the fabric.
