The Leela is a square pleated lampshade in black fabric, measuring 20cm at the top aperture, 40cm at the bottom edge, and 27.5cm in height. The shade is built from knife-pleated fabric panels arranged vertically around a square metal frame, creating parallel ridges that add texture and depth to the silhouette. An internal white liner diffuses light from the bulb, softening the output and preventing glare from the pleats.

Designed as a replacement or upgrade shade for table and floor lamps, the Leela fits standard UK lamp fittings using the included reducer ring, which adapts the top aperture to suit different diameter supports. The shade accepts bulbs up to 100W and works with ES (E27) or BC (B22) lamp holders depending on the fitting it's paired with. The square profile suits modern and contemporary lamp bases, providing contrast against round ceramic or turned-wood bases.

The black fabric is a matt-finish cotton-polyester blend that absorbs rather than reflects ambient light when the lamp is off, giving the shade a solid, architectural presence. The pleating adds approximately 5-10mm of depth to each panel, creating subtle shadow lines under directed light. The shade weighs 0.6kg and sits securely on most lamp bases without requiring additional balance weights.

Yes. The pleats are set into the fabric during manufacture and held in position by the metal frame. Normal use and bulb heat do not cause the pleats to flatten or distort.

Can this shade be cleaned?

Dust the pleated surface with a soft brush or vacuum on low power using an upholstery attachment. For marks, spot-clean gently with a barely-damp cloth and allow to dry fully before re-fitting. Do not immerse the shade in water or use chemical cleaners.
