Description

The Lal is a counter stool with a low tub back in aged tan leather, set on a single iron column. The back is stitched into narrow channels that fan upward from the seat, and the seat pad is channelled the same way across its width. The column is dark iron and rises out of a heavy round foot, with a ring footrest carried on struts partway up. The seat swivels on the column.

The seat sits at 70cm and the stool stands 97cm to the top of the back, taking up 52 x 54cm of floor. Two of them need a little over a metre of counter between them. It pulls up to a kitchen island with a foot on the ring. Because the seat turns, it can be swung out from the counter to get on and off without the stool being moved.

The leather is buffalo rather than cow hide, which makes it naturally thicker, and it darkens and marks into a patina as the stool is used, so the colour will not stay exactly as it arrives. The column, the footrest and the base are iron, left dark. The Lal range also holds an armchair in the same aged tan leather.
