Description

The Krissa extension is one module of a modular sofa, 85cm wide, 85cm deep and 75cm to the top of the back cushion. It has no arms. A firm seat cushion sits on the frame and a loose pillow style back cushion leans against the low back rail, both covered in natural linen. Below the seat the frame is wrapped in hessian, left raw at the top edge and held with a row of dark studs along the bottom, and under that a pale mango wood rail runs on four turned legs.

The seat sits at 42cm and measures 85cm across by 78cm deep, which is a deep seat for its width: one person sits back into it with room to draw their feet up, and the back cushion is loose enough to be moved or doubled. A single module works on its own as a wide low chair against a wall. Clamped to a corner module or to further extensions it makes a run of whatever length a room takes, and iron clamps that fit under the seat of each module are supplied so the pieces do not travel apart in use.

The frame is solid mango wood and the covers are linen. Every module is made by hand, so the turning on the legs and the run of the grain differ from one to the next, and the hessian left on show is the construction of the piece rather than a finish laid over it. This listing is for one extension module; corner modules are listed separately.

Frequently Asked

What is a modular sofa?

A sofa built from separate units that join together, so the length and the shape are decided by how many are put side by side. This listing is one extension module.

Does this module have arms?

No. It is armless on both sides, which is what lets it sit between other modules.

How do the modules hold together?

Iron clamps are supplied. They fit under the seat of each module and stop the units moving apart in use.

How high is the seat?

42cm, and 78cm deep.

How should I look after it?

Blot spills immediately with a sponge. Vacuum it regularly. It can be professionally cleaned. Colours may fade in direct sunlight.
