Description
The Knightsbridge 8-gang grid faceplate is a 148mm square cover plate in smoked bronze finish, designed to sit over an 8-module grid system. The faceplate clips onto a separate GDS003F metal sub-frame (sold separately), which holds the individual grid modules — switches, dimmers, sockets, data outlets or blank plates. Once the cover is clipped on, no screws or fixings are visible on the wall.
Used in residential and commercial installations where multiple switches or outlets need to be grouped in a single position, the 8-gang grid allows flexibility to configure the exact combination of modules required. Common applications include kitchen worktop control banks, bedside lamp and USB charging points, home cinema dimmer and volume control panels, and office meeting room AV control stations. The 148mm footprint fits standard UK grid back boxes.
The smoked bronze finish is a satin-textured dark metallic grey-bronze that sits between black and antique brass in tone. It pairs with dark wood, charcoal grey walls and black ironmongery in contemporary and industrial interiors. The premium-grade steel construction gives the plate a 3.5mm projection from the wall once fitted, keeping a low profile against flat wall surfaces.

Frequently Asked
What is needed to complete the installation?
This faceplate requires a GDS003F metal sub-frame (sold separately) and up to eight individual grid modules — switches, dimmers, sockets, data outlets or blanks — to fill the grid positions. The sub-frame mounts to a standard back box, the modules clip into the frame, and the faceplate clips over the top.
Is the faceplate removable after installation?
Yes. The screwless cover plate clips onto the sub-frame and can be removed for redecorating or module changes, then re-clipped without re-wiring.
What back box depth is required?
A minimum 35mm back box depth is typically needed for grid systems, depending on the specific modules being fitted. Deeper modules such as dimmer grids may require 47mm boxes. Check the individual module specifications before installation.
What other finishes are available in this range?
Knightsbridge produces grid faceplates in polished chrome, brushed chrome, polished brass, antique brass, matt black, white and smoked bronze. Use the search function or filters to find other finishes in stock at Niori.
