Description
The Knightsbridge 2-gang surface box is a black polycarbonate pattress designed to mount 2-gang switches and sockets directly onto walls without recessing into the plasterwork. At 32mm depth, the box provides enough internal space for standard cable runs and terminal connections while keeping the overall projection from the wall to 34mm once the faceplate is fitted.
Designed for use with Knightsbridge's screwless and flat plate switch ranges, the surface box suits retrofit installations where cutting into walls is impractical or impossible — solid concrete walls, tiled surfaces, commercial fit-outs where surface wiring is the norm, and temporary electrical installations. The box fixes to the wall via two mounting points at the rear, and the faceplate then screws or clips onto the box depending on the Knightsbridge range being used.
The polycarbonate construction gives the box impact resistance and dimensional stability across a temperature range from -5°C to +60°C, making it suitable for unheated garages, workshops and outdoor installations under cover. The black finish matches Knightsbridge's black and anthracite faceplate ranges, reducing visual contrast between the box edge and the faceplate. The IP20 rating confirms the box is suitable for dry indoor use and covered outdoor locations.
