Kiyoma Tall Iron & Mango Wood Shelving Unit - Natural

The Kiyoma is a floor standing shelving unit, 88cm tall and 90cm wide, built on a frame of flat iron bar with three open wire shelves and a solid mango wood top. The frame is plain: a flat upright at each corner running straight to the floor, with no bracing across it. Each shelf is a wire grid with a low lip along the front and the back, and the wood top overhangs the frame on every side.

At 88cm the top sits at about the height of a kitchen counter, so it takes keys, post and a lamp while the shelves underneath take what would otherwise sit on the floor. The shelves are open wire, which suits wet shoes and boots. It is 90cm wide and only 29cm deep, so it runs along a hallway without narrowing it much.

The top is mango wood and the frame and the shelves are iron. Mango trees are cut for timber only once they have stopped bearing fruit, which is what makes the wood available at all. The top is a single plank and the only closed surface on the unit; everything under it is open grid. The Kiyoma is made in this tall version and in a low one.
