Description

The Kirenne is a three-light linear pendant. It has a long black steel ceiling bar and three geometric shades suspended on slim black cords, and each open frame is wrapped in natural-coloured fabric. The fitting is 87cm long, 14.5cm wide and 110cm high overall, so it runs comfortably along the length of a dining table. Each shade takes an E27 bulb of up to 40W. The bulbs are not included, which leaves the choice of warmth and brightness entirely yours. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

We like it best over a dining table, where the three shades spread light along its length instead of pooling it in one spot, so everyone at the table shares the glow. The open frames show the bulb inside and let light pass between the strands of fabric, which gives the room a cosy, textured feel once the lamps are lit. The natural fabric and black steel sit happily with warm wood, cane and pale walls, so the pendant suits a relaxed, earthy scheme in a dining room or an open-plan living space. There is no switch on the fitting itself: it is switched at the wall.

The ceiling bar, the shade tops and the frames are steel in black. The natural-coloured fabric is wound around each frame so the black lines stay visible at the edges. Steel is strong and rigid, which helps the frames hold their crisp geometric shape. The pendant runs on a 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains supply, and as a light wired in at the ceiling it is installed by a qualified electrician. It weighs 3.159KG packed, and the installation instructions are available as a download. When you buy bulbs, you will need three with an E27 cap, each rated at 40W or less, and a warm white bulb suits the natural fabric nicely.
