Description
The Kimitsu is a shallow oval decorative bowl in black aluminium, with an openwork pattern that looks like a branch of coral. Instead of a solid wall, the sides are a lattice of rounded openings and slender ribs, and the rim finishes in a row of short, upright tips that give the top edge a fringed outline. It is 44cm long, 18.5cm wide and 9cm high, so it is long and low rather than deep, and it weighs 0.65KG. The black covers every part of the piece, from the base to the tips.
At 44cm long and only 9cm high, it suits a long surface: down the centre of a dining table, along a sideboard or console, or across a coffee table, where it sits low enough to leave the view across the room clear. Because the sides are open, the surface beneath shows through the pattern, so on a pale oak or marble top the black lattice stands out clearly. It is a decorative piece for the rooms of your home, and it looks just as considered left empty as it does holding a few chosen objects such as pine cones, large shells or decorative balls. We like it as a centrepiece for a dining table between meals.
Aluminium is a light metal, which is why a bowl of this length comes in at 0.65KG and is easy to lift and move when you clear the table or change a display. The openwork design is the point of the piece, but it has a practical side: anything smaller than the openings will fall straight between the ribs, so it is better suited to larger objects than to loose coins, keys or rings. Give it a flat, level surface and it will lend a long, low table a finished look with very little effort.

Frequently Asked
What material is the Kimitsu bowl?
It is aluminium in black, a light metal that keeps this 44cm long bowl at just 0.65KG, so it is easy to move.
How big is the bowl?
It is 44cm long, 18.5cm wide and 9cm high, a long, shallow oval that suits a dining table, sideboard or coffee table.
Can it hold small items?
The bowl is an open lattice throughout, so anything smaller than the gaps will drop between the ribs; it is best kept for larger objects such as pine cones or shells.
Can I use it outdoors?
