Description

The Khari cylinder is a marble vase 9.5cm tall and 9cm across, cut from one piece of stone. The body is a plain drum with square shoulders, and the top steps in to a flat rim and then up again into a raised collar with a narrow round opening. The marble is cream, banded in tan and rust that runs diagonally across the drum and carries on up over the collar, and the grain of the stone shows as fine specks through the pale ground.

It stands 9.5cm high and takes very little room: a shelf edge, a mantelpiece, the corner of a sideboard. The opening is narrow and will hold a few dried stems rather than a bunch, and it stands alongside the rounded vase from the same range. The stone puts 0.75kg into a vase this small.

The marble is natural Indian stone and every vase is cut from its own block, so the banding runs its own way on each one and the depth of the tan differs. Water and fresh flowers are not for it: it is for decorative use only. The range holds two shapes, this cylinder and a rounded one.

Can it take water and fresh flowers?

No. It is decorative only. Dried stems are what it holds.

What size is it?

9.5cm tall and 9cm across, and it weighs 0.75kg.

Is the marble the same on every vase?

No. Each one is cut from its own block, so the banding and the depth of the tan differ.

No. Indoor use only.

How do I look after it?

Use a dry cloth on it. Harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners can damage the finish, so keep them away.
