Keya Chunky Weave & Mango Wood Armchair - Natural

The Keya is an occasional armchair on a mango wood frame, 85cm tall and 72cm across. The arms are cut from solid planks that widen and lift towards the front, the legs splay outwards, and a single rail runs low between the front pair. Two pads sit in the frame, both hand knitted in a chunky bobbled weave, with a pair of diamonds worked into the back pad in a flatter stitch against the bobbles.

The seat is 49cm from the floor, 64cm wide and 55cm deep, so it is low and open at the sides rather than enclosing. The chair takes up 72 x 92cm of floor, deeper than it is wide, so it stands clear of a wall rather than against one. A pair turned towards each other takes a low table between them. One on its own suits the corner of a bedroom or a reading nook.

The frame is mango wood in a light natural tone and the grain runs differently through every chair. The upholstery is hand knitted from a blend of forty per cent wool, thirty per cent cotton and thirty per cent viscose, and the knitting varies a little from one pad to the next. Mango is grown first for fruit and cut for timber only once the trees stop bearing. The chair weighs 16.9kg and arrives with both pads.
